The Club at Flying Horse - First Look

Located north of downtown Colorado Springs, The Club at Flying Horse is ideally situated just east of the foothills offering breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and more specifically Pike’s Peak. I had the privilege of getting a personal tour of the entire facility (minus the course) by Wendy McHenry, the membership director. In a word the club is amazing.

Playing at Home…. stead

I’m not sure why I don’t play Homestead more often. It offers some of the best views of the front range and Denver, is generally always in great shape, and the course is challenging despite it’s relatively low yardage and slope rating. It’s one of what I like to call an “in-betweener”. That is, it’s got some regulation length par 4’s with a number of par 3’s (the common term for this is “executive” but what that means I’m not entirely sure). It does offer one par 5 of decent length as well (553 from the tips). Overall I just like the fact that you can really hone your irons and short game while still getting a few cracks at the driver.
